So here we go again. Reading this in the Daily News the other day. Continued from the black Honeymooners thread ... what the hell is going on.
P. Diddy talking about making an all black movie:
"I was watching 'Ocean's 11,'" said Combs, referring to Steven Soderbergh's remake of the classic Rat Pack film, "and I just couldn't relate to it.
"You have all these black icons," he continued, "Chris Rock or Chris Tucker in comedy, Denzel [Washington] and Jamie Foxx in acting, me and Jay-Z in music, what about us? It's about time to put the greatest black icons in a film together. We're not running around in 'do-rags and low riders anymore."
This is one project that Combs is unequivocal about appearing in. "I'm trying to hit the big screen, baby," he said. "I'm trying for my head to be 6 feet tall."

His whole arguement would perhaps have more merit if there were no blacks in Oceans 11. Last time I saw the film, Bernie Mac and Don Cheadle were prominently involved as part of the 11. Even the old version had Sammy Davis Jr in it. Not like this whole series was white-washed.
I don't think Puffy gets much respect and rightfully so. He kinda comes across as the type who wants to be respected but is laughed at behind his back. He thinks he is hipper than he truly is.
So again I ask: When is this a double standard? And when will the the white race be forgiven for slavery? Why do I have to deal with what some freakin' dumb hick did 10 lifetimes ago?
