I'll be honest. I'm not adverse to a little sports talk radio discussing the mind-numbing minutiae of the Jets or whatever.
I DO mind when the topic of the day veers off into areas of discussion beyond the mental capacity of the otherwise sports-bright hosts.
If you have a moment, check out 660AM WFAN. Mike and the Mad Dog just interviewed documentary filmmaker Ken Burns about the legendary boxer Jack Johnson, the first African-American heavyweight champ.
The conversation has now veered off the road (as Johnson's car did seconds before his death) into the realm of what does or does not constitute a "hero." Hey, that's great, and I normally love such conversation. But, please, while I respect the sporting opinions of Mike and the Mad Dog, they are the intellectual equivalent of a used napkin when it comes to eating at the table of philosophical discourse.
Please, Mike and the Mad Dog, shut the hell up. Can we talk about how much the Knicks suck or something?

Hopefully the Mets will sign a backup utility pinch-runner and the universe will realign.

Now it's Truman and World War II.
Slow sports news day or what?

Typical call: "hi mike and chris, this is joe from ronkonkoma. I have a question about the Mets and then a quick comment on the Knicks. First, I want to congratulate you Mike. All the best. I have two of my own..."
Chris Mad Dog Russo: "Alright, you get back to us. Here's Minko with the flash."
